Pit Bull mix – Roobee
I would like to take a few minutes to introduce you all to Roobee. Roobee came into the Gardner Animal Shelter as a stray. She is brindle with white legs and nose and is probably 3-4 years old. Since Roobee came to live with us she has been nothing but outgoing and eager to please. She absolutely basks in attention and will crawl into your lap for a cuddle if you let her. Roobee’s biggest challenge is holding still and being patient. She is currently learning how to “wait” at the door and for her food bowl and that she doesn’t need to push her foster brother around in order to get what she wants. She is also learning how to stay seated even when someone looks at her! It’s been hard work since her tail also functions as a propeller but Roobee is making excellent progress. She is food motivated and will do anything to earn your adoration and a treat!
Roobee has been getting used to meeting new people and is a little shy around big guys but only until she gets to know them. We have not had the chance to introduced her to children yet. She has seen cats and does not appear overly aroused but has not been free roam with one. Roobee has met many new dogs recently and, while she is pushy, she plays well and we’ve had no trouble introductions. Roobee got her name because when she doesn’t get what she wants she says, “Roo-roo-roo!”
