Meatball has been through more trauma than most of our dogs and that’s saying something. This poor kiddo was rescued by a veterinarian after he was brought in nearly dead last winter after being starved by his first owners who then let him be severely attacked by another dog, presumably for entertainment.
He was briefly adopted by another owner, during which time he was attacked once again by an off-leash dog while walking with his owner. This owner loved him but faced a housing issue, so he came to us.
What we know about Meatball:
- He is gentle, quiet, smart, playful and friendly
- He lived with a toddler in his last home and has met young kids while out with his foster. On a recent trip to buy toys he just wanted to follow around another shopper and his kids.
- He likes squeaky toys
- He does great on car rides
- He enjoys sniffing around his foster’s backyard and going for walks
- He did great in his first dog test! He didn’t make a peep but also didn’t engage in play. Who can blame him?
Because of his history we think he’d be most comfortable in a home without other dogs. If his new family is experienced and willing to help him slowly get acclimated to other dogs he may or may not be able to live with other dogs in the future. Too early to know!
