Pitbull mix – Max

My name is Max. I was picked up in September of 2023 outside of Holden, MO.  I was taken to Old Drum Shelter in Warrensburg, MO. They posted my pictured in hopes that my owners would find me. My owners never came so after 7 days, the shelter put me up for adoption. There was a nice family said they would take me if my true family didn’t come get me.

My new family already had a dog named Alex so before I could go home with them, we did a meet and greet at the shelter. I loved Alex and he loved me, he was a big playful goofball and he was going to show me the ropes. I got to go home that day. I was so happy!!

Alex and I got along like brothers. I even went to Doggie Day Care with him and we loved all the other dogs there. We love to play, and run and sleep.

Why am I here now? Lately, Alex has begun to scare me a little bit and when he gets too close I growl and then we fight. Mom and Dad are scared for both of us and realize that they can’t provide the type of home that either one of us needs.

So I’m looking for a new forever family! I love to cuddle with my human and give lots of kisses, I love to play catch and fetch. But mostly I love to sleep on the couch and hang out with my humans.

I don’t like cats, unless I can chase them but that probably would not end well.  I haven’t been exposed to little humans so I don’t know how that would work.  I’m about 2 or 3 years old, neutered, up-to-date on my shots and kennel trained.  I know some commands but could use a bit more training to really master them.
